Basic Uses of the Prefix Per
Basic Uses of the Prefix PerThe prefix per is commonly used in the medical and chemical industry. It means 'for', or 'to'. Because of its origins in ancient times, it is often used to mean 'for something'. However, it can also be used as a noun, which is just another way of saying 'something'.For example, a mineral in a chemical is called an ion. In chemistry, an ion is a 'single molecule', which is made up of two electrons and an atomic nucleus. An ionic compound is a compound that contains only one or more ions. And an ionic gas is a gas in which all the ions are in liquid form.As you can see, the prefix per is very similar to the English language. In both languages, the prefix refers to something - an object, location, event, word, etc. The English language itself is a compound of morphemes, or words. That is why we do not have one word - proper nouns - for every single thing. We have several words, and the prefix per is used to mean 'for' every time a word or morphemes is used.An example is the word 'the', which has an 's' in it - which means 'and 'but'. If we replace the 's' with an 'I', 'y', or 'u', it would become 'fiat', 'fact', or 'effect'. The prefix is also used to mean 'on', 'and', 'when', 'in', or 'over' every time it is used. The hyphen is used to change a word into a compound, and in this case, the prefix is used to keep the word within the same category. In fact, when we talk about pre-ethanolamine, it is always prefixed with the hyphen- not with a prefix. Therefore, it is correct to say that 'pre-ethanolamine' is the first compound - the hyphen is added to indicate the following compound. Also, when a word is in a compound, it has no hyphen - the compound is always placed before the word, and all of the compounds are mentioned in their proper names. However, if the word is used as a noun, then it has a hyphen, even though the compound may be a noun.Another use of the hyphen is to separate two different groups of words. For example, when two chem ical words are placed together, they are known as 'prefix pairs'. An example is the word - 'antimonium'. Here, antimonium is a prefix, and so is the word - 'monium'. So when the words are placed together, it is called a 'prefix pair'.prefixes are used often in history, and they are also used in many places in today's world. The prefixes refer to something, which is basically always used as a noun, but in some instances, they are also used as a verb. That is why they are also called 'first person verbs'. A prefix may also be used to denote some kind of art or music. And for many years, the prefix was also used in the medical field - to mean 'for something'.

Top Useful English Phrases connected with New Year Resolutions
Top Useful English Phrases connected with New Year Resolutions What is it about New Yearâs Eve that persuades us to make promises we have great difficulty in keeping? I have been making New Year Resolutions for more years now than I care to remember (I would prefer to forget!). I can count on one hand (there are not many) the number of resolutions that I succeeded in keeping by accident or design (by choice or simply by accident). We usually start with a list of things we would like to achieve such as: losing weight, going to the gym more often, change jobs or some other life changing action (something very significant). To stick to (continue to try) or to give up (stop trying) depends on our own personal motivation. Usually the support of a partner (husband or wife or a family member) is really necessary to be successful. Setting realistic goals (targets) is also an essential requirement (important factor) if you are going to fulfil your dream. So many people quit (give up) at a very early stage so if you can get over (get past) those first few weeks then you have a much greater chance of success. So whether you are cutting down on (reducing) or cutting out (giving something up completely) then set yourself many short term goals measured in days or weeks and then it may not be such a struggle (so difficult). For example, if your goal is to give up smoking for a year it might seem or appear a lo ng way off (a long way away). Why not give up for a month and then when you achieve that goal look for another month and so on until you accumulate your overall goal (final goal). I tried this many years ago (one of the few resolutions I actually achieved) when I decided to give up alcohol for 1 year. I measured it each month and did not think about the entire year until I got to September and then it was only another 3 months. It worked for me!So if you have overindulged (eaten or drunk too much) over the Xmas and New Year, try shorter term goals to get that resolution in the bag (completed successfully).Good luck with what ever you set out to do (what ever you attempt) and hopefully you have not given up already!! Useful English Phrases connected with Resolutions life changing action something very significantto stick to to continue doing something that you have planned to do and not change your mindto give up to stop doing somethinggoal targetrequirement important factorto quit to give upto get over to get past, to overcome (a difficulty)to cut down to reduceto cut out to give something up completelystruggle forceful effort
Active Learners Part 2 - Private Tutoring
Active Learners Part 2 BobbiM Mar 25, 2014 Active learners accept much of the responsibility for learning. Active learners understand that the responsibility for learning must come from within, while passive learners often want to blame others for their lack of motivation, poor performance, time-management problems, and other difficulties that thy might experience. When active learners dont perform as well as theyd hoped, they evaluate why they didnt do well, and change those studying behaviors the next time. Passive learners, on the other hand, often approach every course in the same manner and then get angry with professors when their performance is poor. It is only when students accept the responsibility for their own learning that they can truly be called active learners. Active learners question information. Active learners question information that they read and hear, while passive learners accept both the printed page and the words of their professors as truth. Active learners dont question everything, but they do evaluate what they read and hear. When new information fails to fit in with what they already know, they may differ in the conclusions they draw or in the inferences they make. Excerpt from College Success Strategies by Sherrie L. 5 tips for living in Japan Japanese cultural practices
5 tips for living in Japan Japanese cultural practices Before you embark on your overseas teaching adventure, it is important to have a good understanding of the cultural practices and traditions unique to your new home. Doing your cultural research will help ensure you enjoy your experience while making new friends and avoiding accidentally offending the locals in your country of choice. Japan is a country home to a distinct set of cultural practices. Here is a list of social rules foreign teachers in Japan will find very helpful for their time abroad.1. Slurp your foodMaking slurping noises while eating your dinner is perfectly acceptable. In fact, a slurp can be viewed as polite way to share that you are enjoying your meal. Slurping tends to accompany a meal of noodles, or ramen, served piping hot.2. Do not tipWhen travelling, whether or not to tip service people is always an important piece of information to have in your back pocket. This is vital when visiting Japan because not only is tipping an uncommon practice, it may also be vi ewed as rude or insulting.Refrain from tipping, the price is the price. (If your service is significantly noteworthy, a gift might be an appropriate replacement for a tip).3. Cheers!Drink etiquette is strict. You might be familiar with the concept of serving yourself last in Western culture, but in Japan this social rule goes a step further: never serve yourself.Once your glass has been filled by another guest, donât forget to share a cheers with your group. In Japanese, âcheersâ translates to âkanpaiâ.4. Footwear etiquetteDifferent spaces call for different footwear. When you arrive at the entryway to someoneâs home, remember to remove your shoes and if available, put on a pair of guest slippers to wear indoors. Hosts may also provide another pair of guest slippers to be worn in the bathroom only. 5. Fear the number 4The Japanese word for âfourâ sounds a lot like the word for âdeathâ. For this reason, it is commonplace in Japanese culture to avoid using the num ber 4. This fear is known as tetraphobia. When teaching in Japan, do your best to avoid giving or sharing things in groups of four or using it in day-to-day to speech. Youâll be reminded of tetraphobia when your elevator skips the fourth floor. Click here for more info on teaching in Japan.

5 Ultimate Time Management Tips for Students
5 Ultimate Time Management Tips for Students If we asked several students to list their struggles, weâd definitely find this one being a priority: time. Every single one of them struggles with time. First and foremost, they have classes to attend. Then they rest, work on their academic assignments, study a bit, and go to bed early. Thatâs what the perfect, most committed student would do. But we all know that most students also want to watch TV shows, spend time with friends, party, and fit in some exercise along the way. So how do you manage to do all this? Thereâs a simple solution: time management. Itâs a skill that anyone can develop. When you start working on it, youâll practically change your life. Get Your Sleep When youâre trying to get more time out of a single day, the most logical solution would be to get less sleep. Thatâs not what you should do. Sleep deprivation takes away your energy and focus, so it practically makes you incapable to function at your best. Itâs okay to stay up late to study and write papers when you absolutely have to. But donât turn this into a habit. Try going to bed at a reasonable hour every single day, so youâll get at least eight hours of sleep and wake up ready to grab the new day. Put Google Calendar to Good Use Someone probably mentioned Google Calendar to you. You probably tried using it. You noted the exam dates and then you forgot all about it. Maybe you even deleted the app because you didnât like all those notifications. Itâs time to start using Google Calendar to its full potential. Itâs not just a calendar; itâs a schedule for all your exams and paper due dates. Youâll note down the time when you attend classes and extracurricular activities. Every minute of free time is valuable. Youâll notice that when you organize all your activities well, thereâs time for everything. Youâll even have some space to fit the TV show in. Get Help with Papers When You Need It No one will attend classes, study, and take tests for you. Those are responsibilities you have to cover yourself. But when you need help with papers, you can certainly get it. The first thing you should do is organize your time and try to work on your own papers. Youâll need to boost your writing skills, so youâll get better at any profession you plan to pursue. But when itâs impossible to write an essay, research paper, case study, or any other project, you can get help from professional assignment writers. This is not a solution that professors approve of, but guess what: they wonât know about you ordering papers online. Plus, the collaboration with professional writers will help you understand academic composition and get better at writing your own projects. Ride a Bike You have to get somewhere and you usually use a car or public transport? You can make a simple, but important change in your life: start riding a bike. Yes; youâll have to leave early, so youâll get to your destination on time. But youâll do two things at once: youâll commute and youâll get your exercise. This means that you donât have to fit in cardio, fitness, lifting weights, or any other physical activity in your schedule when you donât have time for it. The bike will activate your entire system. Learn and Practice Mindfulness Meditation You have to study or work on an important project, but youâd mostly want to sleep? Thereâs a technique that can replace hours of sleep in just twenty minutes: mindfulness meditation. This doesnât mean that youâll just start meditating and stop sleeping. It only means that whenever you need to freshen up, youâll have a brief meditation. You donât need to do anything special. Just close your eyes and focus on your breath. Thoughts will come and go. Let them. Just focus your full attention on the way you breathe. Youâll soon notice your breath is becoming slower and deeper. Youâre getting more oxygen in your system, and that alone makes you feel more awake. Plus, youâre focusing your mind on a single activity, so youâre practically training it for the studying process that follows. Managing your time is not the most difficult thing in the world. You see successful students all the time. They are not smarter; they are just more effective in the way they manage their time. If you follow the tips we listed above, you can do the same thing.

Why You Should Use a Parent Teacher Notes Template
Why You Should Use a Parent Teacher Notes TemplateThe best thing that a parent can do for his child during the school year is to provide as much time as possible for tutoring. This is also a good opportunity for parents to meet and work with their children's teachers. Parents who tutor often get an opportunity to know their children better and make some important observations about their potentials for learning. In other words, tutoring can be a wonderful learning opportunity for children of all ages. So, what are the advantages of using a parent-teacher note template? For starters, it can help you get a more thorough understanding of your child's skills. If you've done your homework, you'll know that your child's homework can be confusing and hard to read, so if you have a copy of the template, you can refer to it whenever you're trying to decipher your child's handwriting or are faced with a difficult question to ask.Another advantage of using a parental use of a template is that it can provide an easy way to keep track of which tutors are good for your child. When you're asking a parent tutor for help, you'll want to know who is the best one for your child. You'll have to do a bit of research on how they assessed your child's learning abilities and written work. A template for parents will help you stay organized, make it easier to get to the most important questions, and give you an idea about what to expect from your child. Some tutors might charge a fee when they first begin tutoring, but once they realize that they can get enough tutoring done for free, they may become a paid service for parents. As long as you're paying for your child's tutoring, you may feel that you need to use a template to keep track of your child's progress. The advantage of this is that you can keep a better track of your child's progress, thus giving you a more realistic picture of how well they are doing. You can also share your observations with the teacher or the tutor so that yo u can learn how your child's homework is progressing. Then, you can discuss how you wish to improve your child's performance and meet your own expectations. By knowing what you expect, you'll be in a better position to ensure that your child gets the kind of tutoring they need. With this in mind, the benefit of using a template is that you can get to know your child and have a better understanding of their learning abilities and how they can improve their performance.Aside from meeting expectations, you can also come up with plans to teach your child the skills that you want them to know. In some cases, a parent may not be the right person to get involved with their child's learning. If you want to learn how to tutor your child, you can learn more about how to become a parent tutor by reading parent tutorials on tutoring or watching tutorials. It's likely that you can use a template to learn more about how to tutor your child, and then you'll be ready to teach your child about thing s that you need to teach them. Finally, using a parent note template can also help you meet any further tutoring that you need to do. There are times when your child might be facing more difficult questions than you might have expected them to. If this is the case, you can use a parent tutor template to communicate your concerns to the tutor so that you can see if there are things that you can do to help your child learn.
